THE BERGENDSTIL WALL CABINET

The Bergendstil Wall Cabinet grew out of the same problem that gave us its taller sibling: how to bring useful storage into our original 1935 bathroom without disturbing what had survived intact for nearly a century. This time, the need was for a medicine cabinet—something compact enough for the wall but with enough personality to hold its own among the room’s colorful tile and period fixtures.

The Wall Cabinet shares the Floor Cabinet’s unabashed Jugendstil influence but plays with it differently. Walnut fretwork frames textured amber glass, while the sweeping crestwork above and below lets the pattern escape the confines of the cabinet itself. What would have been an ordinary box on the wall becomes something considerably more fun.

Inside, two shelves keep medicines, toiletries, and everyday necessities neatly tucked away, the amber glass lending just enough concealment letting the contents take center stage instead. Beyond the bathroom, its compact proportions make it equally useful for small treasures, glassware, or anything else worth displaying or discreetly stashing away.

Like the Floor Cabinet, the Bergendstil Wall Cabinet makes no attempt to disguise its decorative intentions. Small in footprint and big in personality, it proves that even the medicine cabinet can join in the fun.
