The High Ball Table takes its cue from the turned bobbin legs of 17th-century furniture, then gives the form a distinctly Teddy Berger twist. A single exaggerated bobbin rises to meet a slender tabletop that seems almost to float above it—a small feat of engineering with a wonderfully improbable silhouette.
Beautiful as it is, the High Ball is decidedly useful. Pulled alongside a sofa or favorite chair, it is perfectly proportioned for a cocktail, a book, or a beloved plant. The wood version is weighted at the base for stability; rendered in aluminum, it weighs a reassuring 36 pounds.
There’s a touch of Dorothy Draper in the High Ball's spirited elegance and a playful confidence in its exaggerated proportions. Part furniture, part functional sculpture, the High Ball is at home in a contemporary room or among pieces with a longer history. And true to its name, it’s always ready for a drink.
